Çanakkale Kent Merkezindeki Kamusal Açık Yeşil Alanlardan Okul Bahçelerinin Yeterlilikleri Üzerine Bir Araştırma

Abstract

Day by day, increasing urbanization is caused decreasing in open green space, which reachable for people. This situation is affected school gardens as public open green spaces. The children spend lot of the time in school. School gardens are among the important places in which they had both physical and spiritual development of children. In the school gardens in our country it is obvious that the gardens are not arranged according to the wishes of the students and also that they have few green areas and that there are not enough playgrounds and landscape arrangements. This study attempts to evaluate the present conditions of 5 school garden selected from Çanakkale city center. The adequacy of open green space in the school, plant structural and equipment elements in the school garden, the amount of green space per capita, and the qualifications of playgrounds were evaluated with observations and examinations. School gardens in the study area we were detected insufficient of garden area, while planning school gardens Landscape Architectural design principles not used, insufficiency of plant material and equipment elements. As a proposal of solution; the vehicle entrance and student entrance should be separate, special design sitting unit should be design in the garden. Also educational activity areas should be design in school garden.
