Abstract
Samples from the Jabal Sayid radioactive pegmatitic zone in the north-eastern part of the Arabian Shield were studied by the X-ray powder diffraction method to identify the radioactive minerals. Highly radioactive samples contain two main minerals, thorite and zircon. In addition, the occurrence of doverite, bastnaesite and brookite is newly reported. Rutile, anatase, fluorite and hematite are also present. Lattice parameters have been calculated for thorite, bastnaesite, doverite and brookite.
