Abstract

In this article, an ultra-thin polarization-insensitive wide-angle dual-band metamaterial absorber (MMA) has been presented. The proposed MMA consists of several square metallic rings and metallic ground plane, which separated by a dielectric layer (FR4). The simulated result shows that the designed absorber exhibits a high absorption peaks at 5.21 and 9.55 GHz providing the absorption rate of 99% for TE and TM under normal incidence. The two absorption peaks can be independently modulated. The wide incident angles has been considered in the simulation and found the designed of structure also shows high absorption for wide incident angles up to 60° for TE and TM. The thickness of the dielectric layer only 0.9 mm, according to resonant frequency, the absorber exhibits characteristics of ultra-thin. The absorption mechanism of the absorber is analyzed by surface current distribution.
