Abstract

Low battery energy has always been a serious challenge for sensor nodes (SNs) in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). WSNs are experiencing energy constraints, which can be addressed by the wireless charging of SNs. The charging approach employed with these rechargeable SNs is called a ‘‘wireless rechargeable sensor network’’ (WRSN). While numerous research initiatives have been made to enhance WRSN charging performance, little has been done to overcome the scheduling issue associated with the mobile charging vehicles (MCVs) constrained capacity. By ‘‘MCV scheduling problem we imply how efficiently the capacity of numerous MCVs may be employed so that the SNs’ energy demands are met with the fewest number of MCVs. We suggest an ondemand charging approach to address this research gap. When compared to the other schemes, the simulation results show that the proposed scheme can obtain good results in terms of MCV tour length and SN survival ratio, proving the effectiveness of the scheme.
