Abstract

With the increase of large-scale wind turbines integrated into the power grid, the frequency regulation ability of the wind turbines are more important for power system security and stability operation. Due to the fluctuation and the randomness of the wind energy, the control methods of the wind turbine under the full wind speed are analyzed in this paper. The main control methods of the wind turbine include electric control and pitch angle control. Then, the control methods of the wind turbine with different wind speeds are proposed, which considers the different combinations of the basic control method based on their regulation characteristics. Next, the control strategy of the energy storage system is proposed, considering the positive and the negative of frequency deviation and the rate of change of frequency. An integrated control strategy is put forward by combining the proposed control strategies of wind turbines and energy storage systems. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed integrated control strategy is verified by using the IEEE 30-bus system.
