Abstract

The multivariable frequency domain design method is playing an increasingly important role in computer-aided control system design and it depends on achieving a diagonally-dominant system to complete the design with success. The pseudodomination proposed in this paper enables us to design dynamic compensator to improve the dominance of the compensated plant over an extended range of frequencies. The procedure arises from Hawkins's generalising pseudodiagonalisation in a number of directions; in particular, the calculation is reduced and some important messages that provide a real facilitation to the design can be easily gotten at in computational process. Three examples designed interactively by computer are included to illustrate the effectiveness of the improved algorithm.
