Abstract
The authors discuss the concept and goals of the ISD process and the use of the integrated computer-aided manufacturing (ICAM) definition, Version 0 (IDEF/sub 0/) modeling technique to describe the ISD process. The ISD process allows for the orderly development and modification of Air Force education and training programs to ensure cost-effective instruction that produces graduates who possess the necessary operational skills. An effective ISD application begins with the definition of training goals, and is followed by the development of an instructional system to meet these goals. The goal of the proposed IDEF/sub 0/ model is to form the foundation for providing a complete, but simplified, representation of the ISD process for teaching the ISD process, for implementing and managing an ISD implementation project, and for analyzing and upgrading the ISD process. >
