Abstract

The logarithmic number system possesses a comparatively wide dynamic range. In order to perform addition to this system, memory table lookup operations are needed. The address space limitations of contemporary high-speed static RAM's or ROM currently limit the admissible logarithmic wordlength. To overcome this problem, a linear interpolation logarithmic arithmetic unit is developed and tested.
