Abstract

This study analyzes the state library job application forms of the 50 state libraries for compliance with the federal government Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's guidelines for pre-employment inquiries. The analysis revealed a small number of discrepancies compared to the total number of items checked, but over one-half of the states did not meet all the items on the checklist. Library administrators should periodically review their job application forms for compliance with federal and state laws with local equal employment opportunity specialists or their state civil rights commission.
