Abstract
Abstract The purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between sex of physical education department faculty members and sex of department heads with perceived leadership qualities of department heads. The sample was composed of 28 physical education departments; 14 departments had female heads and 14 departments had male heads. A biographical information sheet and the Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire (LBDQ) were used to measure the sex and perception variables respectively. The results of the study indicated that the sex of the faculty member and the sex of the department head were important statistically interacting factors in the perception of the department head on the leadership qualities examined.
