Abstract

Restructuring is suspected to be influencing perception of job insecurity. The jobinsecurity will have a negative impact on job satisfaction, organization commitment, and even turnover intention. When insecurity is conceived within someone’s perception, it will lower his or her job satisfaction and also commitment on the company. This research was conducted upon service (bank) and manufacturing companies which had run restructuring in the last four years. It involved 216 respondents with 78.2% of response rate. Simple regression and hierarchical regression analysis were used to analyze the data.An interesting finding of this research is that restructuring conducted in bank andmanufacturing companies has been found out to be having no influence on turnover intention. On the other hand, job insecurity perception does not influence job satisfaction, commitment, and turnover intention. PENDAHULUAN

Perubahan lingkungan bisnis yang terjadi harus diantisipasi perusahaan dengan melakukan adaptasi. Beberapa penelitian yang pernah dilakukan mengungkap bahwa perubahan yang dilakukan akan membawa dampak negatif baik bagi individu maupun organisasi (Band dan Tustin, 1999; Kinnunen et al ,2000). Selain itu pelaksanaan restrukturisasi juga memunculkan persepsi job insecurity atau ketidakamanan dalam pekerjaan (Pasewark dan Strawser,1996). Persepsi ketidakamanan dalam pekerjaan (job insecurity) pada beberapa penelitian (Ashford et al, 1989; Ameen et al.,1995; Rosenblatt dan Ruvio, 1996) terbukti sebagai salah satu penyebab munculnya intensi (keinginan) keluar seseorang dari pekerjaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan membuktikan dampak resturkturiasi terhadap job insecurity, kepuasan kerja, komitmen dan intensi turnover survivor. Untuk mengendalikan efek terhadap variabel lain, dalam penelitian ini dimasukkan beberapa variabel kontrol yaitu jenis kelamin, usia dan masa kerja survivor. Alasan menggunakan variabel jenis kelamin sebagai variabel kontrol didasarkan pada temuan Rosenblatt et al (1999) yang menyatakan bahwa antara laki-laki dan wanita memiliki perbedaan persepsi mengenai job insecurity
