Abstract
This study aims to describe the realisation of plot used in short stories by students of class XI SMA Negeri 9 Makassar. The data in this study are in the form of words, phrases, sentences in short stories, especially plot and characteristics, as the basic material for analytical studies. The source of data in this research is students' works in the form of short story texts. Data collection techniques were carried out by writing, documentation, and reading and recording. Data analysis techniques were identification, classification, analysis, and description. The results showed that the form of plot in the short stories of students of class XI SMA Negeri 9 Makassar consisted of straight plot, back-and-forth plot, mixed plot, single plot, sub-subplot plot, dense plot, loose plot, plot of fortune, plot of character, and plot of thought
