Abstract

The existence of nano-dimensional meso-macro pores, and an enhancement in the porosity resulting in improved photocatalytic activity have been witnessed in the WS2 material upon radiation exposure (UV and β–rays). Moreover, the N2 adsorption/desorption isotherms exhibit type-IV characteristics. Through the field emission scanning microscopy (FE-SEM), the thin layered sheets of the nanosystem can be seen with adequate exfoliation as compared to their bulk counterpart. Furthermore, the Raman spectra were analyzed for excitation with different laser powers (∼0.25–2.5 mW), for every system under study signifying a higher E12g/A1g intensity ratio at lower power of excitation in the case of exfoliated nanoscale WS2 system.
