Abstract

ALSA is a general purpose finite element computer program for Accurate Large order Structural Analysis. The program is designed for linear elasto-static and dynamic 2-D or 3-D analyses, and based on the high precision and yet economical hybrid stress-type finite element library developed by the author and his associates. Currently, the ALSA library contains 3-D truss and beam, 2-D triangular and rectangular membrane and plate bending, singly curved and doubly curved shell elements. In the generation of these elements, numerical integrations are completely avoided in order to decrease element generation cost and improve solution accuracy. This is achieved by introducing computerized algorithmic representations of finite element properties and the characteristic arrays, enabling automatic generation of analytically integrated stiffness and mass matrices in a very short time.
