Abstract

The transition amplitudes for allowed transitions in muon capture by 28Si are given in terms of the shell model. These transitions were investigated experimentally by means of γ-ν angular distributions. The extended nuclear charge distribution is taken into account. The magnitude of the induced pseudoscalar interaction appears to be C P ≦ C A. It indicates downward renormalization of the Goldberger-Treiman relation.
