Abstract

A POPULAR MUSIC act once used the phrase ‘Modern life is rubbish’ as the title of their sophomore album. Th e more I read about early years education in the newspapers these days – both tabloid and broadsheets, including the not-so-broad – the more you would be inclined to agree. A couple of months ago, a letter appeared in The Daily Telegraph that warned of a potent cocktail of volatile infl uences, in this modern world, that were causing our children untold damage.
