Abstract
The purpose of this article is to analyze the lexical units used by the polar opposite discourses (liberal and regime) to describe the events that shook Russia at the end of June 2023 (the so‑called Wagner Group rebellion). The process of finding the dominant lexical variant (мятеж) in the case of ‘RG’ and ‘Meduza’ leads to a similar result, but with the difference that only ‘Meduza’ presents the reader with a whole series of different interpretations of events (expressed in nominations), from which the most adequate picture gradually emerges. In the case of ‘RG’, the dominant nomination is determined by the arbitrary designation of Vladimir Putin.
