Abstract

The results of investigations carried out on the instability in film resistance of CdSe thin films under ambient conditions are reported. The increase in film resistance with time (ageing) in the presence of air and oxygen is attributed to oxygen chemisorption in the films. The effect of various film and deposition parameters on ageing is explained by considering the influence of the above parameters on film stoichiometry. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) studies of the films showed that the oxygen and air exposed films exhibited Cd-O bonds.
