Abstract
Ageing is a natural process that occurs in every organism, leading to changes at different levels: cellular, where cells gradually lose their ability to function efficiently after many divisions, and in tissues and organs, which weaken over time. The study aimed to understand and describe the mechanisms of ageing, both intrinsic and related to exogenous factors. Recognising them opens the way to developing effective methods for delaying the ageing process. Research in biochemistry and molecular biology enables the development of innovative drug therapies, such as senolytic therapies or telomere manipulation. In addition, lifestyle modifications such as an antioxidant-rich diet and regular physical activity can significantly slow down agerelated changes and reduce the risk of diseases of old age, which is one of the main goals of modern science.
