Abstract
The adsorption properties of dextran gels have been utilized to separate the first six members of an homologous series of phenylalanine peptides, the longer members being more highly retarded. Separation is influenced by gel structure, pH and the ionic environment. This technique has been used to verify that such homologous peptides are synthesized by Escherichia coli extracts in the presence of polyuridylic acid.
