Abstract
Research has indicated that atitudes of adolescents toward the aged vary. Some studies significantly point out that exposure of adolescents to the aged apparently aid in the shift of negative attitudes to positive ones. To help promote and facilitate these positive attitudes, ss well as Lo provide meaningful relationships between the elderly and adolescents of our community. The Jewish Home and Hospital for A&, Bronx. New York with thecooperation of Public School 122. Bronx. New York instituted the "Adopt-A-Grandchild" program. Through carefully planned and strue tured weekly activity, we have helped break the intergenerational barrier between young and old. The results of our progam seem to suggest that there is a definite shift in attitudes and feelings toward the aged by these schoolaged children. These positive attitudes have helped foster a greater sense of social responsibility toward the aged and a greater enrichment in the lives of both the young and old.
