Abstract
The present article deals mainly with the cultural relationship between Sweden and France ca 1650-1800, when the French influence was considerably strengthened. Such cultural and linguistic dominance was resented especially by those who looked back to Sweden's glorious past when Scandinavia had been the vagina gentium and pernicious, i.e., French, influence was non-existent.
