Abstract
A general actuator saturation compensation scheme for fuzzy controllers which is an extension of that for linear controllers is presented in this paper. The condition for its implementation is given, and the necessary conditions for the compensated system to be absolute stable discussed. Three popular schemes for linear controllers are extended to fuzzy controllers. The implementation of these schemes are demonstrated using an example. The system using the scheme that ignores the saturation of the actuator becomes unstable as the actuator limits are tightened, whilst that using either the past value of the actuator output or the effective set-point to update the control remains stable for the same actuator limits.
