Abstract

The review analyzes the monograph of O.V. Ratushnyak about Don, Kuban and Terek Cossacks in exile (1920–1945). It is defined actuality of this study. The sources’ foundation of the monograph and the novelty of complex documents, for the first time introduced into scientific circulation, are established. The features of the methodology and research methods are discovered. A comparison of the provisions and the conclusions of the monograph of O.V. Ratushnyak with those of current research on the topic is realized. A review of the causes and ways of the outcome of the Cossacks from South of Russia abroad is done. There is revealed the number of Cossacks in foreign countries at different stages of emigration. Evaluate the process of reemigration in 1920–1945. It is determined socio-economic, political and cultural manifestations of the Cossacks living in exile and established the specificity of his tenure and adaptation in different countries. The estimation of controversial problems of Cossacks foreign participation in World War II is done.
