Abstract

We want to highlight from the start that, in our opinion, the representative theoretical and empirical studies from this field have approached this issue in a relatively unilateral manner, in the sense that they focused on defining and measuring unemployment and on its evolution and on the positive externals associated to the international migration of the work force. These are only few reasons that determined us to focus our attention on the particularities of the labor market in Romania, starting from the specifics of the modern labor market, and continuing to the current status of employment in our country and to the measures that may be promoted in order to solve the current situation use the term “employment” without a punctual reference to employment (nor even at population taken as a whole) because is well known in specialty theory and practice. Research field is not completely new–employment entered long time ago in theorists’ concerns (The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money, J. M. Keynes being a reference point) and also in practitioners, political circles, civil society, human rights activist organization concerns.
