Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the change of roles of the actors (users and Data Processing experts) in an action research project of systems development, where all actors participated actively in the project. The users participated in the actual system construction by building small prototype systems that acted as requirements specifications. There is a description of the types of roles the users as well as the experts took on in the project. Questions regarding the social and economic risks with end user computing are discussed. The changing of roles and its social consequences are discussed in the perspective of role theory and interactionist socialization theory.
