Abstract

Accelerator mass spectrometry measurements of long-lived radioisotopes, e.g. 10Be, 36C1 and 129I, of interest in geoscience and other fields have been performed at the China Institute of Atomic Energy. The sensitivity for 36C1/C1 is 10 −15 and the background for 129I corresponds to a 129I/ 127I ratio of 10 −11 to 10 −12. Measurements have been carried out on samples of manganese nodules and deep-sea sediments for 10Be; of ground water, halites and uranium ores for 36C1; and of uranium ore and groundwater in a uranium deposit area and seaweeds for 129I.
