Abstract

This research aims to show the value of abstracts and their added value, this is by revealing the nature of the abstract and the different types of abstracts, and then revealing the types of abstracts in reading, time-saving, and in the media. The documentary approach was used to achieve the goals of this research, which was among its most prominent results; reaching the content of substantive content in research and studies, informing researchers about the material content of the document, and realizing that it contains objective content that saves time and cost in reading. Moreover, define the different types of abstracts. This works to address the problem of the information explosion, which has become a part of the work obstacles due to the abundance of intellectual production. It also facilitates the process of overcoming language barriers in research and studies. Moreover, it shows sufficient linguistic knowledge and stylistic accuracy from the authors in their field of specialization, and indexing librarians in mastering their work, which gave the abstracts an essential role in the document description.
