Abstract
An extension of previous work on the dynamics of the rocksalt structure is presented. In addition to the long-range dipole–dipole interactions and short range repulsion between first neighbours, the present treatment has been entended to include non-Coulomb interactions between second neighbour anions by fitting the observed rest-strahlen frequency and the elastic constant c44.
