Abstract

In India development of rural areas are not a new concept it is existing from 1952. In past 65 years lot of rural development programs have been launched. The main motive of these programs are not only increase capital income or living standard of village people but also to cover all fields related to rural area like education, hospitality, agriculture, transportation, employment, housing, economy etc. As per current scenario rural development plays vital role in India. Rural development enhances production, productivity, social as well as development of economy. Rural people are also smart enough to develop small scale industries if environment is supportive. Approximately 70% of population lives in rural area of India and 75% of population of Rajasthan lives in rural area. Rajasthan is the ninth largest state economy of India. Rajasthan is mineral rich state having industries in rugs, textiles, vegetable oils, dyes, zinc etc. which perform major role in development of country. The main objective of this paper is to show the current scenario of rural development as well as challenging issues facing by Rajasthan and suggesting some improvements which improve the rural contribution for development. Rajasthan and Central government launched various programs to improve rural living standard and minimize the gap between urban and rural area. However to provide maximum benefits of government programs improvement in - coordination between departments, communication between department representatives and rural people are necessary. These programs are attractive and useful but due to lack of coordination and communication village people not getting actual benefits or advantages of government schemes.
