Abstract
The primary aim of this study is to examine the various factors that may shape Korean's prejudicial attitudes. Moreover, given that Black-Korean tensions (or Korean-Latino ones) have in some way shaped or been shaped by broader public opinion, examining solely the prejudicial views of Los Angeles' Korean merchants - as many past studies have done - does not tell us the ways these attitudes may emerge or operate in broader contexts. Thus, in a move beyond research on particular groups of Korean Americans, this study examines racial attitudes among the general Korean American population. Finally, in light of an increasing evidence of tensions between Koreans and Latinos, the present study avoids focusing merely on Black-Korean dynamics but further examines systematically Korean's racial attitudes toward Latinos.
