Abstract

This paper presents a novel electronic transformerless boost-resonant DC-DC converter intended for interconnecting renewable power sources to high or medium voltage DC grids. The proposed DC-DC converter has two inductances, one capacitor and five switches. The resonant converter section is a two element configuration, one resonant inductor and one resonant capacitor, while the boost converter section has a boost inductor. The proposed converter has advantages compared to other converters: 1) has the possibility of connecting in a modular way, in order to increase profits 2) reduced number of components in comparison with the others topologies, 3) the possibility of reach ZVS. This paper discusses a classification ofDC-DC converters topologies and the principles of operation of proposed converter as well as the control, the modular connection, and simulations altogether to probe the effectiveness of the converter. Finally, a case of study of a HVDC link, using the proposed converter as a sending node and a MMC converter as a reception node, is carried out.
