Abstract
This study presents the current research trends regarding speed control of the electric vehicle (EV) since it influences the vehicle energy consumption determining the driving range. This article explores all possible aspects of EV speed control, namely, objectives and control methods. A systematic review approach has been adopted to recognise the current state of the arts in EV speed control, and based on that, the challenges with future scopes in this research are identified. The review indicates that the available research gaps in EV speed control modelling are related to vehicle parameter estimation, tackling uncertainty and controller design with learning-based algorithms. This review work greatly interests the researcher working in the research areas related to EV development.
