Abstract

Emotion-focused group therapy (EFGT) is regarded as a helpful approach for clients; however, there remains a lack of comprehensive understanding pertaining to its application and efficacy. This article reviews the evidence for the quality of EFGT studies. Out of 288 articles, fifteen relevant studies were selected based on the review criteria. Descriptive analyses and quality indicators were used to analyze the selected articles. Despite emerging supportive evidence for EFGT, study results showed quality indicator categories were insufficient to guarantee research quality and key EFT task usage. These findings suggest further research and rigorous implementation of EFGT to enhance the effectiveness of mental health service delivery.
