Abstract
Rice is cultivated almost all over the world. Various diseases and pests cause loss of rice productivity in spite of using several pesticides. Though use of pesticides increases the production, it reduces the quality of the crop. Thus, disease identification from rice images becomes one of the important research works in the field of Computer Science and Agriculture Department. In the paper, different rice plant diseases are described and identified using various image processing and data mining techniques. The image processing techniques are applied for collecting the disease portion of the image and extracting relevant disease-related features. On the other hand, data mining techniques are applied for extracting relevant hidden information useful for disease detection based on the extracted features. The techniques are very useful for the farmers to take the corrective actions in a very short period of time to save their crops from diseases. Here, we have studied several papers related to rice plant disease identification to explore the current scenario about the agricultural decision support system.
