Abstract

With the development in new media, the additional markets accessible through digital online media, such as VOD and IPTV are becoming larger. The digital online market, which is growing at a rate of 20% a year, is expected to be a new distribution window that will replace the additional rights market that collapsed along with the video industry. Moreover, by diversifying profits from multiple sources within the Korean film industry that is focused on box office sales, we can seek the stabilization of the sales structure. This study examines the change and growth of the movie additional rights market and the distribution structure of movie contents and the process of profit distribution. Further, this study will propose as a policy alternative the necessity to adopt on-offline unified online computer system that is a necessary tool for securing transparency for settlement and distribution. This study will examine the background for pursuing unified online computer system for movie theater tickets as a basis for adopting on-offline unified online computer system, as well as the system structure and the changes following its adoption. We hope that a transparent settlement and fair distribution of profits will further expand and stabilize the growing new markets.
