Abstract

This paper discusses the degree adverbs of Yuefu poetry in Han, Wei, Jin and Southen and Northern Dynasties. Through the investigation of Yuefu Poem Anthology, there are thirty-four degree adverbs in Yuefu poetry in the Period of Han, Wei, Jin, Southern and Northen Dynasties.<BR> According to the differences of semantic degree quantity attached to these degree adverbs, they can be divided into four categories: extremely high-degree adverbs, high-degree adverbs, comparatively-high degree adverbs, slightly-high degree adverbs.<BR> The degree adverbs in Yuefu poems of the Han, Wei, Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties have inherited the linguistic features of the ancient Chinese and developed the emerging linguistic features of the middle Chinese, so they have strong transitional characteristics. In terms of usage, compared with other literary genres of the same period, degree adverbs in poetry-a lyric literary genre, have unique use characteristics.
