Abstract

Glass fibre-reinforced polyester laminates having different compositions, typical of those used in commercial building panels were exposed to natural weathering at stress levels varying between 7 and 35% of the composites' short-term flexural strength. The creep curves show considerable dependence of the creep rate and the deformation on weathering. Increase in the percent strain for all nine types of laminates subjected to study has been observed to be less than 1% in 15 000 hours of exposure. The trends shown by this work indicate that grp structures may be suitable for outside use provided that good quality laminates are used.
