Abstract
A short review is given of theoretical and experimental works on neutron diffusion in a heterogeneous medium with empty channels. Experiments are described in which diffusion length was measured in the longitudinal and transverse directions by the exponential method in graphite piles containing parallel channels 8 mm in radius forming square grids with a pitch 2·00 cm and 2·83 cm. The results of the measurements agree with calculated data.
