Abstract

A simple phenomenological description of the generalised susceptibility appropriate to dilute chromium alloys is used to calculate the change in the ordering wave vector with electron concentration. The change to commensurate ordering at a certain concentration is associated with the disappearance of distinct ‘nesting’ maxima in the susceptibility for separations of the nesting peaks less than their intrinsic width.
