Abstract

A search for resonances in the 16O + 3He reactions has been performed for bombarding energies between 3.5 and 5.6 MeV. The reaction channels investigated are elastic scattering, ( 3He, p) and ( 3He, α 0). Several excitation functions and angular distributions have been measured for bombarding energies between 4.5 and 5.5 MeV. Evidence of a resonance near 5.05 MeV was obtained in the elastic scattering channel and in the proton channels p 0, p 1 and p 5. The elastic scattering excitation functions can be fitted by adding a one-level compound state scattering amplitude to a potential scattering amplitude. The spin-parity assignment obtained for the compound state at 13.45 MeV in 19Ne is J π = 1 2 + . Approximate values are given for the partial widths.
