Abstract
A proposta deste trabalho é apresentar a representação da figura nerd em obras audiovisuais dos Estados Unidos, a saber, o filme A Vingança dos Nerds (1984) e a série televisiva The Big Bang Theory (2007 – 2019). O texto fará um breve relato sobre a ideia de nerd e suas representações no cinema e na televisão ao longo do tempo. Posteriormente a pesquisa utilizará do pensamento de Stuart Hall (2016) e de Douglas Kellner (2001) para discutir como a cultura nerd apresenta todos os indícios de uma forma cultural que se transformou no tempo e ganhou novas representações na cultura da mídia, modificando os textos que constroem seus personagens, práticas e ritos, ao mesmo tempo, solidificando outros.
