Abstract
We present a PROLOG-Relational interface based on the loose coupling approach. The interface acts in two steps. In the first one the interface determines the largest sub-sets of the PROLOG program which can be evaluated by the Relational DBMS, the corresponding Relational queries are evaluated, and their answers are inserted in the program, replacing the corresponding program subsets. In the second step the transformed PROLOG program is executed as any standard program, whithout any access to the Relational DBMS.
