Abstract

Due to the large number of prospective psychopharmacological agents coming out of chemical laboratories today, there is a definite need for a simple preliminary test of activity. It has been suggested by Walaszek and Abood (1956) that the modification of fighting response of Siamese Fighting Fish (Betta splendens) might be a good indicator of psychopharmacological activity. In my study a modification of the method suggested by these authors was used in studying a series of 24 previously untested compounds which are related to reserpine, a well known tranquilizing drug.
