Abstract
In this paper, a simple, low cost, compact, portable and automatic measurement system is proposed for radiation patterns of antenna. Proposed system consists of a designed rotary stage, an USB signal generator and a spectrum analyzer. A stepper motor based rotary stage is employed to control automatically the 3600 rotation of the receiving antenna using LABVIEW software and Arduino hardware control system. The receiving antenna is then connected to the spectrum analyzer via GPIB interface. The radiation pattern is then plotted in real time on GUI interface developed based LABVIEW software. The proposed system is verified by comparing the results taken of this system with other existed results. A good agreement is obtained between them which enable this portable system can be utilized for both commercial and educational purposes.
