Abstract

A novel technique for 3-D analysis of GPS antennas mounted on rocket shaped structure is developed using wedge diffraction theory. The wedge diffraction results reported so far in open literature are limited to principal plane analysis using GTD/UTD for a cuboid and 3-D analysis using ray optics and magnetic edge currents. GPS is an excellent satellite based navigational aid for worldwide navigation and remote sensing facility. The analysis of GPS antennas will help to mitigate multi-path fading. The experimental results are taken in an anechoic chamber for scaled rocket shaped model. The results predicted in principal planes for specific dimensions of rocket shaped structure are compared with experimental and published results and found to agree.
