Abstract

Numerical Methods for analysis and design of Microstrip Patch Antennas (MPAs) are time-consuming and quality properties about the analyzed structures are not appropriately achieved using them. Multiport Network Model (MNM) is considered as one of the best models for analysis and design of these Antennas. This model includes several circuit networks, each representing one characteristic of the Microstrip Antenna. In this paper, a novel, fast and accurate method for Modal analysis of two MPAs is presented using the MNM. The results reveal the frequency, type and number of the patch resonance modes in each frequency interval. Also, it is possible to discern the modes excited by some feeding port(s). Furthermore, with analysis of the achieved results at different modes, a new and deep insight for the MPAs' operation is accrued.
