Abstract

Because of the growth of nursing care in ambulatory clinics, nursing education and professional development needs have increased. At one academic medical center, development of a combined centralized-decentralized nursing professional development model addressed the needs of this expansion. Hiring dedicated nursing professional development staff for prioritized education programs improves throughputs and outputs associated with nursing professional development. Implementation of unit-based clinic rounding has improved staff engagement with education, professional development, and quality outcomes. [J Contin Educ Nurs. 202x;5x(x):xx-xx.].
