Abstract

Due to the limitation of device technology, cost, reliability and power rating, design and implementation of a novel high-voltage power switch for solid-state transformer application is presented in this paper, utilizing 10 wide bandgap (WBG) semiconductor 1.2kV SiC-MOSFETs in seires connection, could operate at 10kVAC grid theoretically. Then, the topology and driver method of high voltage power switch is proposed, meanwhile, the static voltage balancing and dynamic voltage balancing scheme are also analyzed. Finally, the proposed high-voltage power switch for SST is verified by the corresponding simulation and experiment.
