Abstract
A new layered cuprate, SnBa2CaCu2Oy, which has a perovskite-related structure, has been discovered. The crystal structure is investigated by powder X-ray diffraction. It has a tetragonal symmetry with lattice parameters a = 4.09 Å and c = 12.65 Å. The space group is P4/mmm, which is similar to that of Hg-1212. The transport measurement showed that the compound possesses semiconductor characteristics.
